Keeping in mind this very thought, Fiat India today unveiled its latest offering in the premium hatchback segment: the Fiat Grande Punto 90HP MULTIJET. Armed with a 1.3 litre Multijet engine, powered by a Variable Geometry Turbocharger, the car will be India’s most powerful diesel hatchback.

GM India launches Chevrolet Aveo CNG variant for Rs 6.31lakh

General Motors India today launched the CNG version of its Chevrolet Aveo mid-size sedan at a ceremony presided over by its President and Managing Director Mr. Karl Slym. The Aveo CNG is a bi-fuel vehicle with a full-size petrol tank that is one of the most environmentally friendly cars available in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Slym said, “The launch of the Aveo CNG is a testament to the importance that GM India attaches to green technology and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. Its running cost is approximately 57 percent lower than a similar vehicle powered by petrol and 25 percent lower than a similar vehicle powered by diesel. Because of the lower operating economics and the growing number of CNG stations being built across India, this new offering is expected to appeal to both individual and fleet customers. Under normal driving conditions, the Aveo CNG has a range of 180 to 200 kilometres on a full tank of CNG and is BS IV compliant.”

The Chevrolet Aveo CNG is equipped with next-generation computer-controlled CNG injection technology from Italy. In an industry first, all “critical to quality” CNG kit components are fitted at the factory – including the CNG injectors, selector switch, modified wiring and suspension – to ensure high-quality and trouble-free service. In addition, the body is reinforced to carry the additional mass of the cylinder. Sequential injection represents the most advanced level of evolution of CNG kit technology. The ECU (Electronic Controller Unit) calculates the opening times of the injectors for each cylinder and acts separately on each gas injector with the highest precision.

Aveo CNG Benefits include:
1. The sequential injection kit offers precise fuel delivery control through electronic injectors, ensuring efficient combustion.
2. The engine offers stable performance in CNG mode.
3. The Aveo has a CNG-compatible engine. Hardened valve seats and anodized pistons are used in the proven 1.4-litre VGIS (Variable Geometry Intake System) petrol engine. This ensures no engine damage or reliability issues in CNG mode.
4. Minimum service is required owing to the Aveo CNG’s advanced electronic operation.
5. The suspension has been reinforced to support the additional mass of the CNG cylinder in the trunk.

GM India engineers have done extensive testing and validation of the Aveo CNG. The Chevrolet Aveo CNG comes with a three-year/100,000-km standard warranty, which is an industry first in the mid-size sedan segment, and a service interval of 5,000 km or six months (whichever comes first). During the run of the Aveo in pure CNG mode will not impact the vehicle warranty.

It may be recalled that the Chevrolet Aveo finished first in its segment in the prestigious J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) two years in a row because of its class-leading quality attributes. It has also been rated best in class in terms of fuel economy by journalists across the country. In addition, the Aveo has won several awards since its introduction.

BMW India launches all new 5 Series in India

The new BMW 5 Series was unveiled today at the exclusive BMW pavilion which has been specially constructed for the launch in India. The new BMW 5 Series is available in two petrol variants – 535i and 523i and two diesel variants – 530d and 525d and can be ordered at BMW dealerships across India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Peter Kronschnabl, President, BMW India said, “The 5 Series is the core model in our product portfolio. Taking more than a little inspiration from its bigger brothers the Nokia X3 and the Nokia X6, the candybar Nokia X2 offers a 2.2-inch QVGA screen and measures in at just 13mm thin and 81g light.

Nokia Introduces C3, C6 and E5 QWERTY Phones in India

Nokia today launched a newer, improved version of Nokia Messaging with free push email service on all compatible Nokia Symbian devices, exclusively for consumers in India. The service will be available through all leading operators in the country and consumers will only have to pay the basic data download charges. Further, as part of the Nokia Messaging Service (NMS) portfolio, Nokia will also offer free Instant Messaging (IM) services, preloaded on select devices. Volkswagen Beetle and Touareg Now in India

Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car maker today announced the launch of the iconic - New Beetle, and its road dominating sports utility vehicle - The Touareg in India. The New Beetle will be priced at Rs 20.45 Lakhs and the Touareg at Rs. 51.85 Lakhs (all prices ex-Showroom Delhi).

New Beetle:

Maruti Suzuki Launches New SX4 Automatic Car in India

Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer in the country, today launched the new SX4 sedan with an engine powered by advanced VVT technology. The company has also introduced a 4-speed automatic transmission variant of the new SX4.

The environment friendly new SX4 is amongst the first A-3 segment sedans to be BSIV compliant in the country. BSIV regulations are scheduled to be introduced in the country in April 2010. The new SX4 comes with a brand-new sporty honeycomb grille and 10-spoke 16 inch alloy wheels and dual tones interiors and plush upholstery.

Announcing the new SX4, Mr. Mayank Pareek, Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) said, “The new SX4 is set to raise its own benchmark in luxury segment, even further. The car’s distinctive stance and style profile is characteristic of today’s modern sedans. With a VVT engine, it is all set to send the adrenalin pumping while caring for the environment. The 4-speed automatic transmission addresses the needs of today’s cosmopolitan customers for convenience in the stop-start city traffic conditions. The VVT or Variable Valve Timing allows the timing of the intake valve to be changed while the engine is in operation, thereby ensuring that there is never a shortage or wastage of power. This leads to improved engine efficiency, optimized fuel consumption and lesser carbon emissions. With the advanced VVT technology, the car starts, accelerates and climbs steep slopes better. In essence, the technology is an intelligent system leading to a smoother, more luxurious drive and better mileage.

With a more efficient engine, the new SX4 has ARAI certified mileage of 15.6 km per litre of petrol. The superior technology engine helps the SX4’s four-valve, 1.6 litre engine produce a maximum power of 104.68ps @5600 rpm. The engine also has a high torque of 145Nm @4100 rpm.

Automatic transmission
The 4-speed automatic transmission makes the city drive much easier. A slick shift allows easy down-shift and effortless up-shift to ensure a smooth and sporty drive. The instrument cluster incorporates an electronic display to highlight the engaged gear.

A cluster of computer controlled sensors constantly manage the throttle input and optimize the engine response accordingly, thus requiring no changing of gears. The overdrive mode in the Automatic Transmission provides additional power on the tap, whenever needed.

When the SX4 sedan was launched in May 2007, Maruti Suzuki was the first automobile company to introduce class leading premium features such as air-bags, steering-mounted audio controls, auto climate control, glass antennae and many others in an A3 segment car for customer benefit. The tradition continues in the new SX4 with the company bringing in advanced VVT technology, which has so far been used only in the luxury SUV, Suzuki Grand Vitara.

The interiors have been stylized in new two-tone beige colours to define calmness and luxury within the vehicle. The steering mounted controls are illuminated for easier usage at night, while there is a new provision of USB connectivity on the dashboard.

In addition auto climate control system, and windshield antenna, the new SX4 sedan also offers illuminated key insert and variable instrument illumination.

The new SX4 is available in 2 transmission – Manual and Automatic. While Manual Transmission has two variants VXi and ZXi, the Automatic Transmission is available in ZXi variant with optional leather upholstery. The ZXi variant also comes with safety features like ABS, EDB, Dual SRS airbags.

The SX4 sedan is the tallest, widest car in its class. It also has the largest fuel tank capacity at 50 litres. It comes with the widest tyres and a boot space of 505 liters. The ground clearance of the new SX4 sedan is 190mm, the highest in the A3 segment.

The SX4 is being manufactured at the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Manesar.

Powered with an 110cc engine, the new model will deliver a power of 8 bhp. The new Aviator will give 15% more mileage thus making it even more economical than the previous model. This increased efficiency has been made possible because of various cutting-edge technologies.

The New Aviator is mainly targeted at married males in the age-group of 30-40 years. Being a premium product, it is meant to attract buyers who are style-conscious and seek quality & comfort. It will make an impact on the two-wheeler market increasing the appeal for the premium automatic scooters.

New Aviator features the Combi-brake which makes it comfortable. Also, it strongly addresses the environmental issue. Though all the Honda products adhere strictly to the emission standards, the New Aviator adheres to even the BS-III norms which will come into effect from April next year. Among the other attractive feature of the New Aviator includes the front Disc brake with 3 piston calipers and the alloy wheels (in Dlx Variant). Front telescopic suspension continues to aid in smooth riding.

Samsung has launched its latest full QWERTY phone named Samsung Corby Mate in India. This handset is known as Samsung B3310 in European markets.

The entry-level B3310 will come in trendy colors and unique design so as to appeal to its target market, which is the youth. On the features front, the phone features a horizontal sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Samsung Corby Mate mobile handset designed to support the highly connected lifestyle of today’s younger mobile users. Corby Mate will be used for messaging sports a 2 inch QVGA display and offers quad-band GSM connectivity. Corby Mate is a full QWERTY keyboard enabled handset with weird looking design.
