Fiat India Launches Grande Punto 90HP MULTIJET Hatchback

With high power comes the true driving experience. Keeping in mind this very thought, Fiat India today unveiled its latest offering in the premium hatchback segment: the Fiat Grande Punto 90HP MULTIJET. Armed with a 1.3 litre Multijet engine, powered by a Variable Geometry Turbocharger, the car will be India’s most powerful diesel hatchback.


Already setting the standard with its gorgeous looks and style, the Grande Punto 90 HP is poised to power through the competition and create a new benchmark for diesel hatchbacks in India. Mercedes-Benz launches SLS AMG in India for Rs. 2.5 crores

Mercedes-Benz today launched its flagship super sports car for the Indian market: the SLS AMG. GM India launches Chevrolet Aveo CNG variant for Rs 6.31lakh

General Motors India today launched the CNG version of its Chevrolet Aveo mid-size sedan at a ceremony presided over by its President and Managing Director Mr. Karl Slym. The Aveo CNG is a bi-fuel vehicle with a full-size petrol tank that is one of the most environmentally friendly cars available in India.


Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Slym said, “The launch of the Aveo CNG is a testament to the importance that GM India attaches to green technology and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. Its running cost is approximately 57 percent lower than a similar vehicle powered by petrol and 25 percent lower than a similar vehicle powered by diesel. Because of the lower operating economics and the growing number of CNG stations being built across India, this new offering is expected to appeal to both individual and fleet customers. Under normal driving conditions, the Aveo CNG has a range of 180 to 200 kilometres on a full tank of CNG and is BS IV compliant.”

The Chevrolet Aveo CNG is equipped with next-generation computer-controlled CNG injection technology from Italy. In an industry first, all “critical to quality” CNG kit components are fitted at the factory – including the CNG injectors, selector switch, modified wiring and suspension – to ensure high-quality and trouble-free service. In addition, the body is reinforced to carry the additional mass of the cylinder. Sequential injection represents the most advanced level of evolution of CNG kit technology. The ECU (Electronic Controller Unit) calculates the opening times of the injectors for each cylinder and acts separately on each gas injector with the highest precision.

Aveo CNG Benefits include:
1. The sequential injection kit offers precise fuel delivery control through electronic injectors, ensuring efficient combustion.
2. The engine offers stable performance in CNG mode.
3. The Aveo has a CNG-compatible engine. Hardened valve seats and anodized pistons are used in the proven 1.4-litre VGIS (Variable Geometry Intake System) petrol engine. This ensures no engine damage or reliability issues in CNG mode.
4. Minimum service is required owing to the Aveo CNG’s advanced electronic operation.
5. The suspension has been reinforced to support the additional mass of the CNG cylinder in the trunk.

GM India engineers have done extensive testing and validation of the Aveo CNG. The Chevrolet Aveo CNG comes with a three-year/100,000-km standard warranty, which is an industry first in the mid-size sedan segment, and a service interval of 5,000 km or six months (whichever comes first). During the run of the Aveo in pure CNG mode will not impact the vehicle warranty.

It may be recalled that the Chevrolet Aveo finished first in its segment in the prestigious J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) two years in a row because of its class-leading quality attributes. It has also been rated best in class in terms of fuel economy by journalists across the country. In addition, the Aveo has won several awards since its introduction.

BMW India launches all new 5 Series in India

The new BMW 5 Series was unveiled today at the exclusive BMW pavilion which has been specially constructed for the launch in India. The new BMW 5 Series is available in two petrol variants – 535i and 523i and two diesel variants – 530d and 525d and can be ordered at BMW dealerships across India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Peter Kronschnabl, President, BMW India said, “The 5 Series is the core model in our product portfolio. Each generation of the BMW 5 Series has been a winner and has played a major role in the company’s success around the world. And we intend to keep it that way in India. You can imagine what high expectations we have of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan: It has to live up to its highly successful predecessor both in terms of innovative technology and sales achievements.”

Africa’s Mi-Fone forays into Indian market

Nokia X2: An entry level music phone in India @ INR 5000

Nokia today announced the Nokia X2 in India. The Nokia X2 is the latest device to join the Xseries line-up and is due out before the end of June. We're still in a spin after the Nokia N8 but if you're ready for more join us after the jump to find out what the Nokia X2 has to offer.

Taking more than a little inspiration from its bigger brothers the Nokia X3 and the Nokia X6, the candybar Nokia X2 offers a 2.2-inch QVGA screen and measures in at just 13mm thin and 81g light.

The Nokia X2 also packs dual speakers, dedicated music keys, FM stereo and support for up to 16GB of storage via microSD card make for a nifty mobile music device. On the back is a 5 megapixel camera allowing it to capture some fairly good pictures.

Loop Mobile invests Rs. 200 crores in network upgrade across Mumbai

Mumbai’s longest standing and leading mobile service provider, Loop Mobile has embarked on a major network upgrade for which the company has invested Rs. 200 crores as part of its phase I capex plans. Tata Motors Introduces New Indica Vista Drivetech4 in India

Tata Motors has launched an all-new Indica Vista range, the Indica Vista Drivetech4, with a host of new features and a thrilling driving experience, to take the encouraging market response to the company’s new generation car to a new high.

The BS-4 compliant Indica Vista Drivetech4 has a specially designed Eurotech gearbox perfectly mated to the Vista Drivetech4 Quadrajet diesel and Safire petrol engines. Nokia Introduces C3, C6 and E5 QWERTY Phones in India

Nokia today launched a newer, improved version of Nokia Messaging with free push email service on all compatible Nokia Symbian devices, exclusively for consumers in India. The service will be available through all leading operators in the country and consumers will only have to pay the basic data download charges. Further, as part of the Nokia Messaging Service (NMS) portfolio, Nokia will also offer free Instant Messaging (IM) services, preloaded on select devices. The company also unveiled the Nokia C3, Nokia C6 and Nokia E5, its new range of QWERTY devices to make email, chat and QWERTY devices available at affordable prices to more consumers in the country.

Nokia Messaging is a push email UI that aggregates all multiple consumer email accounts through one client. It can support and mobilize up to 10 email accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, Rediffmail, Sify and Indiatimes amongst others. Nokia’s email solution removes the barriers and prohibitive costs associated with mobile email Nokia Messaging is easy to configure (simply in 3 steps!) with the consumer having to click on the email icon and then enter his email address and password. It ensures easy toggling from one email account to another, without closing the existing email account, and without having to go through the web browser. Supported on more than 33 Symbian device models, it has over 3 million active users in more than 100 countries today.

Nokia Messaging (IM):
Nokia’s Instant Messaging Service enables users to mobilize all of the popular chat clients like Windows Live™ Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger® or Google Talk straight on the Nokia device. The chat client allows users to have multiple conversations across multiple communities at the same time, change their status by community and manage their buddy lists. The IM service will initially be pre-loaded on Nokia E63, E71 and E72 devices.

Nokia C3: The most affordable Messaging device:
The Nokia C3 has been built with social networking in mind as it is the first Series 40 phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, providing this feature at very affordable price points. The Nokia C3 comes with Nokia Messaging, Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat, meaning first time users can set up email and chat accounts straight from the device, without the need for a PC. Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity, a two megapixel camera, rich color screen, and support for up to 8GB memory card. It comes in a variety of colors including golden white, slate grey and hot pink. The Nokia C3 is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010 at an estimated retail price of 90 EUR, before taxes.

Nokia C6: Convenience of Touch and a full keyboard
The Nokia C6 is a Symbian-based smartphone combining the benefits of a 3.2 inch touch screen with a full slide out QWERTY keyboard. The large screen provides a great Internet experience, as well as offering access to Facebook feeds directly on the homescreen. A full suite of email and social networking capabilities means the Nokia C6 is perfect for people who want to stay up to date while on the go. The Nokia C6 has impressive features including a high quality five megapixel camera with autofocus and flash and Ovi Maps with free lifetime navigation. In addition, the Nokia C6 can be personalized with thousands of apps – whether its games and videos to news aggregators and web services – all available in the Ovi Store. It is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010 at an estimated price of EUR 220, before taxes.

Nokia E5: Stay connected the way you prefer

Estimated price of the Nokia E5 is EUR 180, before taxes, with expected availability in the third quarter of 2010.

Refreshed Versions of Yamaha FZ16 and FZ-S bikes Launched in India

Riding on the grand success of its muscular and hottest-looking FZ16 and FZ-S bikes, India Yamaha is introducing new color schemes and graphics to add more zing to their appeal. Also, the company will communicate both FZ16 and FZ-S under a single style statement – Stylish Macho. The FZ series are very popular amongst youngsters and have been a prized possession of more than 1 lakh happy customers.

In 2009 fiscal, the company sold 85,000 units of FZ16 & FZ-S, contributing to 40% of total sales volume. The new FZ-S will be available in Black Cyber Green, Silver Tech and Sport Electric Blue colors while new FZ16 will come in Lava Red and Midnight Black. The all new stylish graphics and change in the color of some body parts will compliment the overall macho expression of these bikes. The bikes boast of 153cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder high torque engine for active & aggressive city riding. The engine is born out of the quest for the ultimate in intake efficiency, combustion efficiency and minimum horsepower loss. A negative pressure type Φ26mm carburetor with TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) contributes to outstanding engine response. The 5-speed transmission provides a smooth operational touch and the gear ratios provide optimum performance and agility in city riding.

The placement of ‘MidShip Muffler’ is toward the center of the machine to achieve good concentration of mass, exhaust efficiency and handling. Monocross rear suspension ensures agile running performance and handling. The bikes also have “140/60-17” size rear radial with a 60% aspect ratio that contributes to better grip and handling stability.

FZ series bikes are designed & engineered with the potential for active and even aggressive enjoyment of around-town street-riding and styling that brings pride of ownership.
